About The Jonas Society

The The Romanian Charity Jonas Society was officially registered in Bucarest as an NGO (Non-Governmental + non-profit Organisation) "Societatea de Caritate Jonas" in 1993.
The organisation consists of 30 members. All members are parents who have a disabled child or young person in the family. The members belong to different churches and owing to the Christian Belief, which is the foundation of our work, all feel that we belong together.

In 1994 a "Jonas" Benefit Society was founded in Bremen. The members support the organisation in Romania voluntarily and financially. The Romanians also work on a voluntary basis. They visit sick people in hospitals or they give advice to families with a disabled child and also help in obtaining important documents.

We want to support the poor, the sick and the disabled and offer aid to help themselves. Especially the integration of handicapped people is one of our main goals.
